The Storm Coaster by EMAAR Entertainment Group, located at Dubai Hills Estate area, forms an internal part of the futuristic development of Dubai coveted with a residential and commercial community to attract visitors around the globe.
The premier attraction is a multivehicle inversion coaster wrapping its way throughout the entire building. The coaster contains an exhilarating completely vertical launch, powered by magnetic LSM motors, sending riders over 50m up into the building. The track stretches a total of 697m, containing two inversions, a vertical nose drop, multiple inner and outer banked turns, airtime bumps, drops and a block break using eddy current brakes. Three trains, each with a capacity of 12 riders can run simultaneously providing an efficient guest experience and flow. The track is innovatively integrated structurally with the exoskeleton diagrid of the main facility, creating a unique first of its kind indoor coaster that is the building itself.
The Storm Coaster comprises two distinct sections, the first is an enclosed circular building 45m in diameter and over 50m tall, which is constructed as an extension to the main mall and comprises the circular tower featuring the ride itself, the loading and unloading platforms, control room, central core area, maintenance section, generator room, storeroom, HV and RMU rooms. The seven-story central core area includes electrical HV & LV distribution rooms for coaster at lower ground level, mechanical and electrical plant rooms at each level with interconnecting staircase and lift. The façade comprises triangular insulated and glazing panels with an integrated lighting system that provide an added attraction which make the facility look amazing.
The Second section is the integrated two-story unit within Dubai Hills Mall and provides access off the mall. The ground floor incorporates amusement facilities, ticketing zone, retail zone, photo gallery, management, and security spaces, first aid, toilets, pantry, and a Pre-show experience room to give that gives a theatrical effect to the visitors before taking the ride. The first floor of the mall is still to be fitted out but is intended to be a food and beverage facility to compliment the ride experience.
